Well, we had a lot of prep work to do... we were running this one for Cari. We need to have stylish bags.
We have to wear the right shirt...the photo is of Cari running the Chicago marathon.
And a pair of Cari's running socks for each of us...
Next, we need a tattoo...yes, that's right a tattoo.
Not to worry, you know us...it goes on with water and comes off with water.
Then, we have to practice crossing the finish line...
Looks good!
Now, let's get in place with the other 3700 runners and stand around for 30 minutes watching videos and performances at 9:30 at night. Sounds normal.

Yes, we have time and energy for a quick photo at every mile marker.
And, then it's back to the task at hand...finishing the race.
We did it! It was amazing. Our times were ok...1 hour 42 minutes for Lisa and 1 hour 43 minutes for Frances. Not bad. It was an emotional race as Cari was with us every step of the way, however, I think she ran the races a little more gracefully and with better results.

It was so much fun doing this with Lisa and honoring our beloved Cari. Lisa thought of everything--running bags, shirts with Cari's picture on them to inspire us and take her with us for a run and Lisa's love and encouragement to keep me moving. We also saw Randy and Mark, spent time with Bethany, she babysat with Lucas and Eva while we ran. We also had lunch with Jeanie and Rich for a birthday celebration for Jeanie. God has blessed our family in so many ways. Thanks Lisa for inspiring all of us!
