Growing in faith...

Today is a big day...we have our normal everyday events like school, laundry, cleaning along with theater after school and Lucas' Wednesday night baseball game. In addition, today is the day before my mom heads back to MD Anderson in Houston. So tomorrow will be an even bigger day as she will have her six week scan and blood work. Our prayers are for continued signs of shrinking - maybe even disappearing - tumors. I know that the anticipation alone is a tough one and I am sure it is heavy on her mind and heart as well as my dad's.

However, you would never know that she is on her way to find out if all of this draining chemo is actually working. You would never know that she is fighting a super aggressive cancer. Well you might be able to tell a little as she is bald, but she looks very cute.

This woman, this mom, this mimi, this wife...she has outshone us all. She always has a smile on her face. There is not an activity that she is afraid to do...she has even gone back to her tap dancing classes.

Not kidding...

One day she broached the subject of training for a half marathon...really mom? Although she would probably do it with success, my knees can not make the commitment. So, I am trying to convince her to do a 5K instead. But not to worry, she will not let that slow her down as now she has committed to hosting a dinner for 12 for Thanksgiving. Amazing!! My mom is incredible - always has been but has proven to be even stronger than I knew she was.

Her faith has grown and strengthened along with her positive attitude and nonstop ambition and determination. She is more than my a hero...she is a hero and a light for all those she encounters. So, off to Houston you go mom! If anyone can beat the odds and set a new level of living with this type of cancer, it is my mom, Frances!

And you?

What is going on in your life right now testing your faith and pushing you beyond your comfort zone? And more importantly how are you handling it?
